Four snakes found a new home for the summer in the Visitor Centre at the Park through funding by the FOMPP. The snakes came from Sciensational Sssnakes and included a Red-sided Garter Snake, a Ribbon Snake, and two Northern Water Snakes.
“The intention was to promote conservation through education. We rented them for July and August for daily Reptile Rallies, showcasing our snakes and turtles in the
Visitor Centre. We had tremendous turnout and impact with this program. Many participants in attendance felt fearful of snakes and by the end felt curious, informed and appreciative of our native snake species. It was wonderful to also see how many youth were naturally passionate and excited to have an opportunity to be up close to snakes!” Layna Lubimiv
